Bamber Bridge, Lancashire
The site contains the Environment Agency’s Lutra House offices, which include permeable car parks. Runoff also drains into swales which take the water into a reedbed filtering system and a retention pond. The water then goes to the existing drainage system. This helps reduce flooding risk and improve water quality.
A number of issues have been experienced on the site, including surface flow on the permeable paving in heavy rain when the pores are blocked and difficulties with maintaining the reedbed levels.
