New blue-green infrastructure reports

Blue-green infrastructure (BGI) has been growing in recognition and CIRIA’s new blue-green infrastructure reports C780a & C780b aim to demonstrate how BGI is utilised to effectively manage the impacts of climate change and growing flood risk. Together with policy changes and legislation that places an emphasis on water quality, the need for research on the implementation and management of BGI has never been higher.

The reports will assist landscape architects, engineers, local authorities and other practitioners by highlighting different approaches to overcome the challenges of delivering BGI and build knowledge through providing a summary of practical implications for design and maintenance of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).

Both reports are outputs from the CIRIA supported Blue-Green Cities academic research project providing evidence and research on BGI, C780a covers planning perspectives, evaluation, collaboration, and how they can affect the delivery and management process. Whereas C780b identifies the factors that influence the water quality management performance of BGI, particularly SuDS.
